The CUHK Computer Security Lab has openings for students studying in the M.Phil./Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Engineering for the admission in Fall 2025. The positions will remain open until filled.
We work on some of the technically very challenging problems. We expect the candidates to be smart, professional, emotionally mature, to be motivated and dedicated to systems research, to have good English communication and academic writing skills (TOEFL score >= 100 or IELTS band >= 7.5), and to have a solid background in computer systems and related areas (e.g., operating systems, compilers, program analysis, reverse engineering, computer networks, etc.). The English requirement can be relaxed (only a bit) for exceptional candidates.
To be admitted to our department's M.Phil./Ph.D. program, an applicant has to first submit an official application to our department and pass a preliminary interview with our admission committee. Without passing this preliminary interview, the applicant cannot be admitted to the program.
Our department hosts multiple rounds of M.Phil./Ph.D. admission interviews in each academic year. The next admission interview will be in November 2024. For full consideration, please submit a complete application to our department before the application deadline(s).
You could find more information about our admission opportunities and admission process HERE.
We occasionally have open positions for research interns, or research assistants. We expect that the intern can stay with us for at least 2 months. We also welcome and encourage remote collaboration.
Currently, we can provide only limited support for an intern. However, you are encouraged to apply if you do not require any financial support from our lab.
Note that it may take the Hong Kong Immigration Department 4 to 6 weeks to process a visa/entry permit application for training. Therefore, please submit your application early (3 months in advance) if you will need a visa/entry permit for entering Hong Kong for research training.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is difficult to allow research interns to come to our campus. We welcome and encourage remote collaboration.
We have research assistant positions available for undergraduate students at CUHK. We do strongly encourage our undergraduate students to apply for the research assistant positions at our lab. The positions are financially supported under the university's student helper scheme.
